Trauma & Aikido: An Exploratory Workshop

Trauma & Aikido: An Exploratory Workshop

Join us for a very special afternoon of immersive inquiry into Somatic Experiencing, the trauma-healing work of Peter Levine, and the profound mind-body movements of Aikido.
Saturday, January 14, 2023, 1:30–4:30 pm

Russell Jones Sensei, 6th dan, Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido

The intention of this short workshop is to develop our ability to consciously observe orienting and survival responses as they happen, and to play with completing them utilizing Aikido principles and movements. To play with, is synonymous with explore and experiment, which is how we all learned to be in our body as children and continue to learn as adults.

Russell Jones is a professional teacher and practitioner of Somatic Experiencing, a physiologically-based approach to working with trauma and post-traumatic stress. Jones Sensei also holds the level of rokudan, 6th degree black belt, in Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido. He lives in Brazil and teaches in multiple locations worldwide.

Admission: $25-60 sliding scale

This workshop will benefit Rocky Mountain Ki Society (RMKS) a Colorado-based non-profit organization working to spread the life-enhancing aspects of Aikido and Ki in daily life.

If you can't carve out the time to show up, please consider making a contribution to allow us to continue bringing more unique events like this to One Dojo. Thank you in advance!
